Right opposite the Louisiana Supreme Court is an address known as 417 Royal Street. This place used to have Brennan’s Restaurant. Way back in the 1800s, a judge named Alonzo Morphy lived there. He worked at the Louisiana Supreme Court from 1839 to 1846. Judge Morphy and his family, which included his son Paul Charles Morphy, a famous chess player, called this place home.
