Siegbert Curt Tarrasch (1862-1934) was a German chess grandmaster. He achieved remarkable success in major tournaments in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Although he never held the title of world champion, Tarrasch played a world championship match with Emanuel Lasker in 1908, which he unfortunately lost. Tarrasch’s passion for chess continued alongside his medical career. He died in Munich at the age of 71 from complications of pneumonia. A cemetery near Munich is his resting place.
